Along the Delaware Beaches and other coastal areas, a French drain needs a usable outlet when a high water table is present. Drain Rock forms the clean aggregate portion of that drain, leaving connected spaces for water to move through rather than filling the route with dust or fine material. It also fits retaining-wall backfill where water should pass through the stone instead of remaining against the wall.
Piedmont clay near the Brandywine Valley can hold water differently than coastal sand, but the drainage layer still needs to stay open. For wall work that will carry soil backfill above it, use angular Drain Rock in the drainage section. Its pieces interlock while maintaining the open paths needed for flow. Rounded Drain Rock is better suited to visible landscape drainage where a natural stone appearance is preferred.

Common Uses
French Drain Systems
French drains use drain rock as their free-draining trench fill. The open spaces between the stone carry water away from footings, basements, and low spots, which is especially important where Sussex County's water table is high.
Septic & Leach Field Construction
For septic wastewater systems, drain rock forms the open layer beneath the field. The washed, even-sized material supports infiltration in installations subject to health department requirements.
Retaining Wall Backfill
Place drain rock behind retaining walls so collected water has a path out. This drainage layer limits hydrostatic pressure that can damage or push a wall out of place.
Foundation Drainage
Place drain rock along a foundation perimeter so groundwater can move away from footings and basement walls. This helps limit moisture entry and hydrostatic pressure that can contribute to cracks and structural damage.
Why Choose Drain Rock
Maximum Water Flow
With dust and fine material washed away, drain rock leaves open pockets for water to move through. Those voids help a drainage installation carry water effectively when it is first put into service.
Long-Term Performance
Because it is angular, drain rock holds its open spaces when placed under load. Rounded aggregate can settle and compact, reducing the room available for water movement.
Washed and Graded
Made for engineered drainage work, this drain rock is washed and graded for use with perforated pipe, drainage fabric, and related system parts.
Structural Protection
A drain-rock layer directs water away from foundations, walls, and other built areas. Reducing trapped moisture and hydrostatic pressure helps limit the conditions behind costly structural repairs.
