Along Delaware's coastal plain, fast-draining sand and a high water table can affect excavation and site preparation, while Brandywine Valley ground may hold more clay above rock. Concrete Sand is washed sand for concrete, backfill, and leveling applications. Washing separates clay particles, silt, and organic matter from the material. It is selected when a work area calls for material kept apart from excavated ground.
For utility work in wet ground, place the sand into pipe bedding and surrounding voids before the trench is closed. Its ability to flow into tight spaces is useful where excavated material does not fit the task. Keep the selected sand apart from native soil during placement, then compact backfill as the project calls for around utilities, foundations, or retaining walls. The sand may also fill concrete forms before a pour.

Common Uses
Concrete and Mortar
For concrete and mortar, washed sand works as a key aggregate. Its washed, uniform particle sizing supports dependable mixes for structural work such as footings, flatwork, and wall construction.
Backfill & Trenching
Fill utility trenches, post holes, and foundation excavations with washed sand. Because it is free of unwanted material, it helps keep drainage systems clear and compacts well where working room is tight.
Leveling & Grading
Use washed sand to bring uneven ground into level, set drainage slopes, or prepare a construction area. It moves readily into low areas, then compacts into an even, firm finish.
Pipe & Cable Bedding
For buried pipes, conduit, and cable, washed sand forms a level, supportive bedding layer. It settles around the installation without damaging coatings, helping protect against shifting and concentrated loads.
Why Choose Concrete Sand
Washed and Clean
The washing process clears away clay, fine sediment, and organic material that can affect concrete performance or drainage. The result is a clean sand suited to applications that call for washed material.
Consistent Gradation
With evenly distributed grain sizes, washed sand gives predictable results in concrete, bedding, and fill projects. Uniform particles make placement and compaction more consistent.
Versatile All-Purpose Material
Use washed sand in concrete mixes, around pipe, or for site grading. Covering these construction tasks with one material can reduce the need for separate specialty aggregates on site.
Bulk Value
Delivered in bulk, washed sand offers per-ton pricing for larger projects instead of bagged material. A single delivery can cover sand needs across several construction stages.
